If you're trying to take a day off of school , get out of work, avoid the in-laws, or have to play the role of a sick person in a play, faking an illness is easier than you think. If you don't look the part, you will have a hard time convincing anybody of your fake illness. By changing your appearance, modifying your attitude and voice, and knowing what symptoms to imitate for different illnesses, you can look convincingly sick to others and take some time for yourself without having to suffer. If you want to look sick, make sure to pick a single illness, like a migraine or diarrhea, and stick to it. Since migraines have no symptoms that can be seen, others will have to rely on your story to believe you. No matter the illness, wrap yourself in blankets and shiver or shake slightly, as sick people often feel hot and cold at the same time.

Forced First Suck, The Follow-Up
In a series of experiments published in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B , people were able to accurately distinguish between sick and healthy people, at a rate better than chance, simply by looking at their photographs. To test whether facial cues alone can convey signs of illness, researchers gave 22 adults an injection of either a common bacteria or a salt-water placebo. Soon after the shot, those who received the bacteria began to feel sick. About two hours after their injections, the people were asked to sit for a photograph with a neutral expression and wearing no makeup. Later, 62 additional volunteers were shown photographs from the first phase of the experiment.
I've taken a long sabbatical from the site because of an overdose of dealing with websites and people suffering from Dunning-Kruger Syndrome. Seriously, 20 years of looking at badly designed websites takes its toll, but like John Wick, I'm back. Bad websites: Prepare to get shot in the face a la John Wick. Click picture for my feelings on the matter.
